March 2, 2011 - Jungle Cruise / project announced

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are reuniting on their second Disney film project together. This time the two Toy Story actors won't just be providing the voices for Jungle Cruise, the new Disney movie, but also starring in the live-action adventure based on the popular Disney theme park ride.

The studio has tried for years to successfully figure out how to make a movie from the ride, hoping for another Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. By attaching Hanks and Allen to the project, Disney has now given their Jungle Cruise movie idea A-level talent. All it lacks is a director and a finished script, but a new draft is being worked on right now by screenwriter Roger S.H. Schulman.

Mandeville Films partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Fighter) are producing Jungle Cruise for Disney.
