Janaury 5, 2011 - G.I. Joe 2 / Stephen Sommers won't direct sequel

Confirmation that Stephen Sommers won't return to the G.I. Joe movie franchise and direct the sequel came today when The L.A. Times' 24 Frames blog heard some interesting scuttlebutt. Two reliable industry agents told the outlet that directors that they represent had been approached by Paramount to see if they were interested in directing G.I. Joe 2.

How is this franchise supposed to suck without Stephen Sommers on board? It'd be like taking Michael Bay off of Transformers.
