February 2, 2009 - Hellboy 3 / del Toro says it's 3 or 4 years away

How long must we wait until we can likely expect to see a third Hellboy movie? MTV Splash Page asked Guillermo del Toro that precise question and got a fairly good answer back: about three or four years. Since the director is busy shooting two back-to-back Hobbit movies in New Zealand (expected out in theaters in 2011 and 2012), development on the third screen adventure of big red will have to rest on del Toro's back burner until his trip to Middle-earth is over.

I'm shattered that we will have to wait so long for the next installment. Ron Purlman IS Hellboy and I would hate it if he thought he was too old by the time the next one comes around. Both Hellboy movies to date have been fantastic and I can't wait for the next one.
