December 13, 2009 - UFO / Ali Larter in talks, director interview
Scooped on Sunday, December 13, 2009
In a lengthy interview with Forbidden Planet, UFO director Matthew Gratzner talks about his plans for making a trilogy of UFO movies; of the decision to cast Joshua Jackson; the news that he's spoken to Heroes cast member Ali Larter about playing the part of Virginia Lake, one of SHADO's top commanders; that his aliens will be humanoid in appearance and not too weird-looking; and that there will be some retro elements in the movie as a nod to the 1960s style of the classic TV series.
"What I want to do with UFO is what Christopher Nolan did with the Batman franchise, or Martin Campbell did with Casino Royale," states Gratzner in the interview. "UFO is not a spoof, or a parody or a kids' movie. It's a pretty dark story, actually…it is not a show for young children."
The article also pegs the budget for UFO at $130 million dollars.
