April 6, 2010 - Tron 3 / project announced

Disney has hired Lost screenwriters/executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to begin writing a script for a third Tron movie. The logline to the second sequel hasn't emerged and at this stage no one knows if any returning characters from either the original Tron or Tron Legacy will be back in movie #3 although The Hollywood Reporter claims that insider talk is that the two writers are looking to make Tron 3 complete a trilogy. That implies the return of some characters from the first two films.

If there is any clauses in Tron Legacy star Garrett Hedlund's contract to reprise his character of Sam Flynn in a sequel, it's not publicly known. No deal exists to bring back Legacy director Joseph Kosinki or producer Sean Bailey (the latter of whom is now the head of production for the studio.)
