Maybe the monkey wanted a taste of his pie.

While vacationing in Gibraltar, American Pie star Jason Biggs was attacked by one of the island nation's wild apes. Biggs and fellow American Pie star Eddie Kaye Thomas were hiking in the forests of Gibraltar when a Barbary monkey leapt from its overhead perch and attacked Biggs, scratching and trying to bite the actor. Biggs was able to get the monkey removed from his person when his hiking companions came to his aid. However, the incident was apparently freaky enough that Biggs and Thomas called an end to their vacation shortly thereafter and returned to the States.

There are about 200 Barbary macaque monkeys living on the island and they've come to earn a reputation as meddlesome troublemakers to the residents and tourists on Gibraltar. While vacationers love to take photos of the stubby-tailed simians the macaques are a constant problem for residents who have to put up with them raiding their trash cans and entering their homes at night in search of food. Years of living alongside humans have made the apes lose their fear of man and sometimes the monkeys will make bolder moves in search of food or just to claim territory. In 2008 Gibraltar authorities had to issue culling campaigns to reduce the macaque population when a group of the monkeys began encroaching on to a popular beach and entering the open windows of hotel rooms.
