Exclusive: Game of Thrones season 2 roundtable

Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time.  And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities.  Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara?  The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season?  Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Trailer for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome hits

During last weekend's Wondercon a new trailer for SyFy's upcoming Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV movie was shown to BSG fans. Now it's (somehow) leaked online, and the rest of us can get a look at what this prequel show looks like.

Set 40 years before the events of the 2002 Galactica reboot, Blood and Chrome focuses on a young Viper pilot named William "Husker" Adama (played by Luke Pasqualino), a 20-year-old, fresh out of the academy soldier assigned to his first ship, the Battlestar Galactica. Onboard the new Battlestar, Adama must learn the ropes of how to fit in with the rest of his crewmates as well as stay alive out in the space dogfights with the deadly Cylons.

First photo from CW's Arrow

The first look at the costume we'll see Stephen Amell wear in The CW's new Arrow television series. He's playing the lead role of Oliver Queen, a.k.a. the Green Arrow (but in the show he's dropped the colorful first part of his superhero name.)

The show won't be on the air until this fall but the series is about to start filming. While the character of Green Arrow/Oliver Queen was seen in five seasons of Smallville, this Arrow won't be the same actor or even the same character. Instead, he's got a new look and a new backstory: Oliver Queen was marooned on an island for five years, but now he's back to take on crime under the green hood of being a vigilante.

Michonne added to The Walking Dead

If you watched the closing moments of last night's second season ender of The Walking Dead, one of two things likely occured in your mind: you either knew who that mysterious cloaked figure was that just saved Andrea from a zombie, or you didn't.

For those readers of The Walking Dead comic, they already know that the sword wielding individual is named Michonne. For those of you that don't, you can think of Michonne as The Walking Dead's equivalent of Wolverine: tough, fierce, and the group's bad-ass with a kitana.

Benedict Cumberbatch taking on Doctor Who next year?

If this one is nothing more than a rumor, it's good enough that Doctor Who and Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat should make it happen. According to unnamed sources tattletaling to Britain's Daily Express newspaper, Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly "close" to inking a deal that would see him play the newest visage of The Master, one of the main adversaries of Doctor Who.

Edgar Wright, Johnny Depp team up for The Night Stalker

Before The X-Files entered our pop culture lexicon there was The Night Stalker. Premiering first as an ABC TV movie and then later as an ongoing series, Darren McGavin played a Chicago beat reporter named Carl Kolchak who wound up filing stories and defeating monsters, spectres and other oddities that went bump in the night.

Listen up Community love-heads because there's good news to report: show creator Dan Harmon has tweeted that NBC is bringing the series back on the air beginning March 15. It's a Thursday night, and Community will air at the 8 PM timeslot (and not a half-hour later as it used to do.)

Terry O'Quinn movies into 666 Park Avenue

Come hell or high water Terry O'Quinn is going to find a new steady paycheck from a network. After wading through guest roles on shows for years, O'Quinn finally got the part that vaulted him into the mainstream, that of John Locke in ABC's Lost. That show brought him to a wider audience than ever before, but he still doesn't have a new regular job on the tube. (O'Quinn's been playing in episodes of Hawaii Five-O as a cop, but his run is not scheduled to last past the season.)

House calls it quits after 8 seasons

Fox has pulled the plug on its long-running medical drama House M.D., putting star Hugh Laurie out of a job. That's alright for the British-born star; he's said before that after House had finished its run he would retire from acting.
