Eric Brevig is the latest director to be hired by Warner Bros. to nurture the studio's Yogi Bear picture. Brevig cut his teeth working on visual effects and then as a supervisor on such films as Signs, The Day After Tomorrow and Pearl Harbor before lensing his directorial debut with last summer's Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Warners now wants to make Yogi Bear as a combo live-action/animated film à la 20th Century Fox's Alvin and the Chipmunks and as a 3-D picture. When the project was intended to be a traditional 2-D film Ash Brannon (Surf's Up) had been the director of choice for the studio. The screenplay is by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia.
