Fanboys director Kyle Newman certainly has the prior experience to make another love letter to Star Wars fans. Newman is now attached as director to Chewie, the semi-autobiographical tale of Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew and the wild ride he and his castmates went through making the original Star Wars movie.

It was also revealed that Newman has optioned Mayhew's official life story and will use this leverage to further develop the Chewie movie project. Inferno Entertainment is producing the movie.

Coming Attractions creator Patrick Sauriol has posted his exclusive review of Evan Susser and Van Robichaux's spec script Chewie, giving it a glowing recommendation.

"Chewie deserves to be high up on The Black List. It’s a wonderful piece of writing that tells a very human story at its core," Sauriol writes in his review. "Sure, it’s cool because it will tell you things that you would never have dreamed actually happened to make Star Wars but the center of it is Peter Mayhew and his life-changing experience. And it’s a tale that’s told very well, from start to finish."
