Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader

Neil and Batman?! The only thing better were if Kah and her 'fuck me' shoes were in there somewhere.

I think I'm actually looking forward to this more than the whole Battle for the Cowl thing. Gaiman and Batman seems like a perfect match!

Look! I'm under Kah!

I ditched comics as a whole ~10 years ago. I was beginning to become dissatisfied with the stories. Sandman had ended, The Dreaming largely sucked ass (although there were a few good stories). Other writers were trying their hand at Endless limited runs and failing miserably. Preacher was done. Hellblazer was stale. And Bats seemed to be on retread.

I read some Batman stories here and there, and got unbelievably pissed when The Joker killed off Essen. I know Dark Knight Returns isn't "in continuity," but that pissed me off. It also pissed me off that Gordon didn't cap the fucker. He would have. First Babs, and then Sarah? You can only push someone so far. It was just lame.

And this "Death of Batman" shit?! Please.

But Gaiman and Bats?! FUCK YEAH!

Richard Gozinya, Harold Snatch and Wilbur Jizz. Together we are the law firm Gozinya, Snatch and Jizz.

I'd rather have a six-part Batman vs. Scarecrow arc written by Gaiman.

Oh, I dunno, to not have that would be depriving us of some high drama.

~batman laying there, apparently dead~

"BATMANNNNNNN!!!!!!" (runs to Batman, holding his unconscious body in her arms, face in her bosom, rocking back and forth)

"BATmannnnnnnn, ohhhh, BATmannnnnnnnnn...." (oscar worth sobbing)

"(Police stand by watching forlornly and stoicly, lips on Commish Gordon quivering, they all remnove their hats and hold them to their chests as they look downward)

BUT.... Batman stirs, coming to life....

"Where... were am I..."

"BATMAN! I THOUGHT YOU WERE....."

"Don't say it..." as he touches her wrist..... "after all, all we have is today...."

"OHHHhhhhhhhh Batman!"

Everyone smiles at each other......

Kinda gets ya right there, doesn't it.
He was pretty pathetically and unceremoniously offed in Final Crisis. With a laser blast. From a gun. That he fired.
I've been reading Final Crisis, and I couldn't begin to tell you what's going on with it.

I also read Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns, which was a great Green Lantern story but had nothing at all to do with Final Crisis.

I finished Final Crisis. It's a mess. The story's stand out moment is a Tawky Tawny moment. When a DC-wide event's stand out moment is a Tawky Tawny moment (don't get me wrong; I'm as big a Tawky fan as you are likely to find), it doesn't say much about the event.

actually the blasts didnt come from Batmans gun that he fired, Darkseid's eyeball laserblasts put him down... look at the panels again. and yes it was cryptic and strange, but so was the ending of Final Crisis.

That makes sense. For some reason, I was under the impression that the blasts somehow were bent by the abstract-like nature of the place. Of course, I was reading it while walking home with it, so I wasn't paying the kind of attention I ought to have been paying.

And the fact that they brought him back on the last panel of the final issue didn't help matters any either.
