Supernatural

Posted by Morpheus on Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Everybody is complaining about Heroes (and rightly so), but hardly anybody talks about how great Supernatural is. This is a series that started out as a (very enjoyable) 'two brothers fighting the monster of week thing', and grew into a a completly great mythology thing, about two brothers fighting the monster of the week! Best series on air, that's not BSG, LOST or DEXTER, if you ask me.

so jakester, i'm still jazzed about the TV show but i think at some point the series should make the jump to either a made-for-DVD movie or a theatrical release.

we didnt get one for Buffy or any of its co-stars (seth green, Spike) but a supernatural DVD movie would be cool... and hopefully they'd up the stakes for it too.

That would be very cool, Phil. Oddly enough, I think this storyline would've made for a great theatrical release. Heck, it doesn't get much more epic than involving rogue angels and the apocalypse. Plus, Lilith is goddamned creepy.

If a theatrical or direct-to-DVD release ever happens, we need to get the original Ruby and Bela back and see them in a hot and very naked lesbian make-out session. It would really help drive the plot forward.

The "...M Night level of douchiness..." line in this last episode was priceless!

Yeah. I expect that they won't, though. I'm pleased that Kripke and the cast are only keen for one more season.

You know what sucks? Both my cable company and its DVR suck. Last week, they moved a bunch of channels around, including the WB or Frog or CW, whatever it is. The DVR wasn't smart enough to pick up on the change, so Supernatural did not record tonihgt. *sigh*

I liked the episode quite a bit. It added some interesting backstory for the Winchesters, and Sam and Dean were as fun to watch as ever. Next week's episode looks to be going back to the overall season arc again.

When I checked on Friday, they had Afterschool Special and one other. They may have updated it.

A bad day for poor 'ol Jimmy makes for a great episode of Supernatural.

I agree. I liked the difference in demeanor and voice between Castiel and Jimmy. Misha Collins did a great job differentiating between the two characters. I also liked the moment when Anna appeared in the back of the Impala, freaking out Sam & Dean.

I think there are only two more episodes left in the season. I'm sure that a lot of major shit is going to hit the fan, especially with the finale being titled "Lucifer Rising" (a nice bookend to the season opener of "Lazarus Rising").

ok I think I missed an episode or three. Who dragged Castiel back to heaven? Last I saw of him, he had made choices by himself and thus was confined to walk the Earth as a (mortal?) and be severed from heaven after he had killed hs backstabbing partner, then he's human, called Jimmy and has a wife and daughter (funny I never saw Castiel as anything other than Castiel... this concept that a higher power (GOD) is sticking angels into human hosts that have families was completely out of left field. Plus, Jimmy's wfe was so convincing, she even had me fooled till she revealed herself as a demon and took their daughter hostage!

We don't know who yanked Cas back, but whomever it was did so without killing his host...
Anna, maybe? We'll find out, I bet.
Sam's demon blood addiction thing doesn't really work for me. I mean, I guess it's a reasonable enough plot device, but the addiction thing just seems tired and cliche anymore.

Sam the demon vampire? LOL! Hmmmm.. yeah. still was cool seeing him with blood all over his face like he'd just finished a spagetti dinner!

so do you think Dean and Rob will force him to go cold turkey? will sam start to get the cold shivers and shakes and have hot flashes and see hallucinations while he's being weened off the bad black mojo of demon blood? and how will this effect his fighting strength?

All I gotta say is that this show had one of the better hyped season finales "Lucifer Rising" and I for one didnt think it delivered the goods.

Dean, stays trapped in a heaven mansion for 45 minutes only to listen to the two stooges Cas and Zac or whatever his name was.... keeps being played... time after time after time by Castiel... ugh. these angels are really pissing me off.

Sam, ok so he was played, this isnt the first time its happened but hopfully he'll learn a thing or three next season... probably not but whatever...

Lilith, gets sacraficed after Sam "shoots his load" and cant recharge fast enough to take out whats-her-name.. by then it really doesnt matter.

Is it me, or is anyone else not amused that this show keeps ending at 9:55pm each week? I mean... Lost goes the full hour but supernatural always ends five minutes early... whats up with that?

Lucifer, a big-old swirly bowl of light and sounds... and then.. fade to credits.

I'm sorry, where was Lucifer and the apocalypse? I thought this ending kinda fizzled.

I thought all of that worked just fine for me. The cliffhanger was frustrating, but what will be more frustrating is if Lucifer gets put back in the Pit off camera during the hiatus.

that was my biggest problem with it, Dean could easily have a "Lucifer-cork" stashed away or Cas or Zac could sacrafice themselves and plug the hole...of course we wont know that till next season... which seems a long wait for a show that didnt deliver enough of the goods in its finale.

Since all the seals are broken, I don't think his arrival can be stopped with sticking your finger in the dam. Really, I think he's coming, and I think he'll stick around for a while next season.
