Everybody is complaining about Heroes (and rightly so), but hardly anybody talks about how great Supernatural is. This is a series that started out as a (very enjoyable) 'two brothers fighting the monster of week thing', and grew into a a completly great mythology thing, about two brothers fighting the monster of the week! Best series on air, that's not BSG, LOST or DEXTER, if you ask me.

Feel the Supernatural love!!!

I wonder if that's what Zeus said right before he raped Leda. Of course, it probably just sounded like some blasts from a bent trumpet, considering the form he had chosen.
I started watching the show out of any other choices one summer.
Season one was okay-ish, but didn't make me want to see more.
A friend told me it got better, so I did watch season 2, which i agree was better. I still decided it wasn't good enough so that I'd keep on watching.
And now, damn you all, I'm getting weak again ... ok then, I'll have a look at season 3 eventually.
:oD
What I liked : plenty of good ideas digging deep into the urban legends and mythology, same reason I love Hellboy (the comics).
What put me off : it felt every episode was the same, that the characters went over the same dilemmas again and again, and continuity was building up too slowly.
Orso.
I agree that, overall, there is a lot of "one brother tries to keep the other brother out of hell" or "resurrect a family member" stuff. However, I think that's been played out and they've ditched it before it really got tiresome.
There have been some genuinely creepy moments on the show, as well as some absolutely hysterical ones.
Supernatural is a show that I really look forward to every week.
And seriously, "Chriss Angel is a Douchebag" is the BEST.EPISODE.TITLE.EVAR!!!!!11!!1

:lmao:
Are the Greek gods in this show? Cause if so, I'll have to check it out sooner rather than later.
No Greek gods. Just stuff like demons, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, imps, etc., and lately angels.
It's definitely a show that keeps improving, too, Negs. The first few seasons had a giant story arc interspersed amongst mostly stand-alone episodes focusing on urban legends and mythical monsters.
The brothers' interaction is great, and there are nice jolts of humour in the show as well, as well as genuinely creepy stuff. A few of the episodes have actually creeped me out, and that almost never happens.
Yay! A new episode of Supernatural! It wasn't anything Earth-shattering, but I enjoyed the episode a lot.
"I'm not playing Fight Club with a 12-year-old!"
Yeah, it was great to have it back. Spoilers seem to be pointing to Sam as the big bad of the season, though. While I kind of dig that on one hand, I'm not sure I've been fully on board with the idea that Sam using his powers is inherently bad.
To get rid of demons previously, they'd just kill the host (or an exorcism would). He's shown that he can sometimes (and it seems to be getting better) exorcise the demon without killing the host. He also kicked Allistair's ass 8-ways to Sunday. I"m not seeing the downside, except maybe for his hubris lately in discounting Dean's importance in the team. To be fair, though, Dean is saying that Sam using his powers is bad, but without giving any sort of rationale behind his beliefs.
the only thing that sucks about Supernatural is that its preceeded by Smallville...although I hear that show still has fans someplace.. (those two are really annoying-LOL!)
I must have missed "Criss Angel is a Douchebag"... does WB have older episodes online?
and i gotta say that Supernatural completely fills the void left by the exiting of everything inside the Buffy-verse :o)
I just finished watching last week's episode this morning. Is it just me or is Tessa super smokin' hot?
And I'm really glad I'm not the only one who thinks this show is the best show on the air right now. I watched the first episode on a whim when it first aired, and I've been hooked ever since. And it just keeps getting better and better. I think I have a man-crush on Jensen Ackles/Dean.
I wish I wasn't at work so I could watch last night's episode right now.
That episode was awesome! I really love the character of Castiel and what they've been exploring with him. I also liked the interaction between Dean and Alastair. The actor for this version of Alastair is much creepier than the first one. I liked his semi-slurred, slow speech, like he's relishing the taste of every word that he says. It's almost too bad that Sam killed him....but that scene was just too awesome. We finally know what Sam has been doing, and Dean will probably hit the roof if/when he ever finds out. I was also glad to see Anna again. I hope she sticks around.
I'm glad we're getting back to the meat of the story now after those couple filler episodes, even though they were still very enjoyable.
Does anybody know how many episodes we have left?
Oh, I love supercute Anna!
Agreed on Alastair! He was almost Lechter-like. He wants us to know that he's evil and that he's enjoying everything about being evil. It was delicious.
Cas has been pretty cool, and it'll be interesting to see where his arc goes. He's disobeyed, and it's immaterial whether he's disobeyed God or simply his renegade superiors. The fact remains that he now has done so and once he exercises free will, he won't be able to go back. It's also apparent in the Supernatural-verse that God is off contemplating his navel or is just watching to see where the chips fall. Either way, He ain't running the show anymore.
So, Ruby's got another agenda. I suppose we will ultimately learn that demons are inherently evil and cannot change. I kind of liked the idea of a demon rebelling and legitimately working at doing good.
Sam's gone all vampiric?! Meh. I thought it was a bit of a cheat that this is the first we're seeing of this and it's been going on for quite a while ("weeks" since the last, and presumably not the first time).
Still, minor quibbles. Overall, it's still the second best show that is currently on air (possibly in a tie with Big Love, but that's over on Sunday for the season).
My guess is that demon blood is sort of like a video game powerup for Sam. He has natural talents and abilities, but for some reason, drinking demon blood makes him super powerful, but only until the batteries get used up, hence the need to "recharge" from time to time.
I just finished watching last night's episode, and I have to say that I loved it. I loved how they plopped us right in the middle of things without an explanation. I loved how Sam & Dean start to figure out that things are not right. I loved the messy kills (Microwave? Yikes!). I loved the big reveal at the end as well, tying the whole episode together and fitting it into the major arc as well.
"You can't fight ghosts without health insurance!"
And the return of Ghostfacers!! Awesome!
The microwave was awesome. I thought he was gonna stick the forks in his eyes. What he did was so much better.
While the elevator thing wasn't very creative, it was still brutally awesome.

when was the last time the Ghostfacers appeared on Supernatural? i've been watching this show off and on for a while... I'd kinda figured out they'd been on the show before at some point but havent seen them this season till now. Kinda thought that I'd see a cameo from the Ghost Hunters crew.. that would be funny.
"the Winchester brothers are douches" <- classic!
It was last season some time. The Ghostfacers got in over their heads. This was their third appearance, IIRC.
Oh, the elevator thing wasn't creative, but I'm surprised they got away with how brutal it ended up. It was very effective.
they got away with it because they didnt actually show anything but the blood spraying on Sam Winchester's face and the guard's lower half kickin and twitchin', it wasnt all THAT graphic, it was all implied (mostly)... which works really REALLY effectively for this show.
Agreed. It's like a lot of the implied gore in Se7en was much more effective than actually showing it.

I completely agree. Supernatural has continually gotten better, and I don't think I've ever been disappointed with an episode of the series yet. The storyline for this season has been great, and I can't wait to see where it goes next.
