Super Bowl Commercials

Posted by Quasar on Monday, February 2, 2009

If you missed some/all of the Super Bowl, or want to watch any of the commercials again, go here: http://www.nbc.com/super-bowl/commercials/video/

or here: http://www.hulu.com/superbowl

There were some decent ones. Overall I thought the field was relatively weak. I did notice there are a lot of crappy movies coming out soon.

It made me realise that when I go to see GI Joe, if I leave my brain behind in the car then I might enjoy it.

It also made me realise, whilst watching the Fast and Furious ad, that you really can't polish a turd.

I watched a few, then realized that I hate television and advertising. So I stopped.

My favorite ad was the Bareer Builder one with the building repetition, if only just for the dolphin shot. The Pepsi commercials were fairly funny as well.

I had to work indoors on Sunday, but walked by the living room during the GI Joe commercial and the Fast/Furious one. I'm insulted for having particles of air pudding like that beamed through my house.

I usually make it a point to get out and enjoy the world on "super bowl sunday"....you just get this glorious and carefree feeling of how nice this world would be with that many less people, clogging everything up.

No, really, you should try it!

It's pretty crazy, Bill. Go to places where rednecks and sports fans would usually be, like a sporting goods store or a bar (without tv's of course). Fucking ghost towns. Pretty cool.

I liked the car commercial with Motley Crue. That was probably my favorite.

They were awful. Most of the most popular ones featured dogs and babies. If there are 2 things I cannot stand it's other people's dogs and other people's babies. That said, I'm sure they scored highly with my 2 least favorite demographics: fat, middle-aged women and Ipsilon.

When will they figure out that we like the Old Spice commercials starring Terry Crews (directed by Tim and Eric). Those are commercials!

The game itself was fantastic.

Is nobody going to mention the geriatric Madonna trying to run around the stage like she is still 21?

I'm not familiar enough with Madonna's music or performances to know if that was any good or not.

I suspect you could take any female pop artist, plug them into the exact same show, and the outcome would be the same.

Also, the vocal performances all looked/sounded taped.

Except for Cee Lo, he sounded like he might actually be singing live. But then, he didn't exactly move very much.

I'm not a fan of Madge, but I thought the show was visually interesting and she seemed to be into it. I wasn't wild about the "today's guest stars," but it's a super bowl halftime show. What do you expect? It's designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

None of the commercials really stood out to me.

Is it like the World Championship of Gaybo Rugby without the rest of the world, but a bit of a championship?

They're called the world champions when they win, so suck it!

Plus, the halftime show features a 53-year-old woman doing aerobics for ten minutes!

And some Limey giving everyone the finger apparently.

I don't think that one Limey on the tram with that kid would consider M.I.A. a sufficiently "Limey" Limey.

Actually, now that I think about it, Chrysler hit it out of the park for the second year running, and Karl Rove can suck it.

Yeah, the Chrysler commercial was awesome.

We need more Clint Eastwood giving straight talk on TV.

Richard Gozinya, Harold Snatch and Wilbur Jizz. Together we are the law firm Gozinya, Snatch and Jizz.

I had to fix your post. Unless you work for the NFL, you are not allowed to call it this.

I had a super bowl of salad last time I went to Pizza Hut. It was massive.

More people should make jokes about how a large bowl of food is their "super" bowl. It's a funny, funny joke, and you almost never hear it anymore.

"Super Bowl" is what my building manager calls his toilet.
