October 6, 2009 - Predators / Adrien Brody cast

Nearly all of the eight humans cast in Predators are now locked in their roles. According to Variety, Adrien Brody lobbed hard for the part of the film's central character, Royce, a hunter of bad guys that the aliens kidnap and take back to their homeworld to hunt down as sport. Joining Brody are:

  • Alice Braga as Isabelle, an expert with the sniper rifle.
  • Danny Trejo as Cuchillo, a Mexican drug soldier whose weapons of choice are twin Uzis strapped to his back.
  • Walt Goggins as Stans, a hardened lifer from prison.
  • Louis Ozawa as Hanzo, a Japanese Yakuza enforcer that uses a katana.
  • Oleg Taktarov as Nikolai, shotgun specialist and massive bear of a man.
  • Mahershalalhashbaz Ali as Mombasa, member of a Africa death squad.
  • Topher Grace as Edwin, accountant by day, serial killer by night. Of all the cast Grace is the only one that's still in negotiations.

Brody's contract calls for sequel options if Fox wants him back.

Meh. How much ammo can Trejo carry around?
Katanas are bad-assed, to be sure, but against the shit the Predators have? C'mon.
Grace as a serial killer is a very cool, but the M.O. of a serial killer is radically different than what one needs to survive being stalked by invisible super monster aliens with FUCKING LASERS.

Look, as long as we're living in fantasy land, none of these people, either separately or together, would pose a problem for my man Bats. However, Bats needed to break out the super-special "fuck with Superman" armor to beat him some Predator ass.

I'm just not really down with this whole thing, the more I think about it.
