October 3, 2008 - Battle: Los Angeles

Director Jonathan Liebesman is close to getting the job to direct Battle: Los Angeles for Columbia Pictures. The Darkness Falls director impressed the Columbia execs by going on location in Santa Monica and filming action scenes of humans fighting CGI aliens in the streets. Liebesman also put together a complex pre-visualization sequence showing some of the invasion force storming the city. Those efforts were impressive enough to make him the number one choice over other unnamed competitors.

Battle: Los Angeles was written by Chris Bertolini and picked up by producer Neal Moritz (the Fast and Furious franchise) last April. The script centers on a Marine detachment that is doing its part in trying to fight off an invading alien force.
