October 23, 2010 - The Hangover 2 / Liam Neeson replaces Mel Gibson
Scooped on Saturday, October 23, 2010
In an unusual move for any production, Liam Neeson has replaced Mel Gibson in the cameo part of a Thailand-based tattoo artist in the Hangover sequel. The reason for the change of actor is due to Gibson's black eye in the public spotlight, ranging from his anti-semetic and offensive racist remarks caught on tape when he was on the phone with the mother of his youngest child. Several unnamed cast and crew members of The Hangover II thought that the casting of Gibson was inappropriate in light of the comments and publicly voiced their discomfort with the film's key decision makers.
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team," said director Todd Phillips. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
Neeson was cast at the recommendation of Bradley Cooper. The two starred together in this summer's A-Team movie.

no surprise there, really. Gibson is a douche. I would have opted for Tia Carrera instead of Liam Neeson though.... thats just me.... she kinda looks thai.
doing Cameos in humor sequels wouldnt be good for his career either, if he wants to re-invent himself he should make another Lethal Weapon flick with Danny Glover and Joe Peshi
