July 30, 2009 - The Box / script review
Scooped on Thursday, July 30, 2009
ScriptShadow has pubished its review of Richard Kelly's The Box screenplay, deeming that it's "worth the read". The review dives into the first and second act spoilers but doesn't touch anything in act three. What the reviewer didn't like was Kelly's dialogue for his characters and at times the reviewer felt that the writer was more interested in creating a brooding atmosphere than making the story progress naturally.
"It gets really confusing as characters start to deliver cryptic lines of dialogue about Pandora and Prometheus," writes reviewer Roger Belfour. "I feel like that it may be a substitute for unclear characterization, because, in the first half of the story you have a good feel for who these people are, but once we derail into bizarro world it’s like we’re no longer dealing with characters so much as automatons that recite and reference other works of literature."
