July 28, 2009 - Freedom Formula / project announced

Bryan Singer is attached to helm a movie based on the five-issue comic book series Freedom Formula. Bad Hat Harry Productions and Radical Pictures are developing the film in tandem. Singer and Barry Levine from Radical will be credited as producer while Radical Publishing's Jesse Berger, Edmund Shern, Alex Garcia and Michael Zoumas are executive producers.

"Creator Edmund Sher and I spoke about finding a property that originated in the Asian market, but was easily adaptable as a North American property," explained Barry Levine. "All he did was show me one image of the mecha, one paragraph of its characters and the world, and I green-lit it immediately."

Comparion the story's action to Top Gun but with futuristic race card, Freedom Formula takes place in the future and follows the exploits of a genetically engineered racer who discovers that his bloodline has the power to create a revolution for his oppressed society. "Freedom Formula is a story that explores the misnomer of absolute freedom and realizing what's important is not the choices we can make, but the choices we do make," remarked Edmund Shern, the comic's writer.
