April 3, 2012 - The Woman in Black: Angels of Death / project announced
Scooped on Tuesday, April 3, 2012
Hammer Films, Cross Creek Pictures and Alliance Films are reuniting on a sequel to their 2011 horror hit The Woman in Black. Titled The Woman in Black: Angels of Death, the sequel picks up 40 years after events seen in the first movie (and that means that the star of the first film, Daniel Radcliffe, won't likely be seen in the sequel.)
The Angels of Death story is based on a short story that Woman in Black novelist Susan Hill wrote. Set 40 years after the events in the first story, Angels of Death see a young couple move into the haunted Eel Marsh House and encounter the spectral lady waiting for them. The sequel's screenplay is being penned by Jon Croker.
"We are proud and honoured to be working with Susan again on The Woman in Black: Angels of Death, a wonderful new tale every bit as atmospheric and terrifying as its predecessor The Woman in Black," said Hammer Films president and CEO Simon Oakes.
The Woman in Black has turned out to be the most successful British produced horror movie of the past 20 years. The film grossed $120 million dollars worldwide.
