April 11, 2009 - Zombieland / Harrelson attacks photographer, claims he was a zombie

Scooped on Saturday, April 11, 2009

As he was departing from a terminal at New York's La Guardia airport last Wednesday evening, Zombieland actor Woody Harrelson allegedly assaulted a paparazzi photographer who was following him and his daughter. Here's where things get weird and related to the movie: according to Harrelson, the reason why Harrelson lashed out at his pursuer is that he mistook the photographer as a zombie.

"I wrapped a movie called Zombieland, in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character," Harrelson said in a statement released yesterday Friday by his publicist. "With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie."

TMZ, the stalkerazzi celeb news website, has a video of the incident and shows Harrelson grabbing the camera of the photographer.

The one positive thing we've learned is that principal photography has wrapped on the movie, so we're bumping the picture's phase up to post-production status.
