Dante's Inferno gets tooned

An animated direct-to-video film based on Electronic Arts upcoming video game Dante's Inferno is being made.

The show is being produced by Film Roman and will air on the Starz cable channel before coming out on home vid, the same release flow as the Dead Space: Downfall prequel toon followed last fall. That animated feature also was created by Film Roman.

Variety reports that the company is thinking of hiring different animation houses to create each of the nine levels of Hell, those being greed, gluttony, anger, heresy, limbo, violence, lust, fraud and treachery. The game is based on Dante's The Divine Comedy and a movie adaptation is also being developed at Universal.

Writing the animated film is Brandon Auman (Iron Man: Armored Adventures), Victor Cook (Hellboy: Blood & Iron) is directing and Dead Space: Downfall's Joe Goyette from Film Roman is producing.
