The second trailer for the new Superman movie coming out in 2013, Man of Steel, has arrived.

Thematically it's not that different from the first trailer we saw back in July. The feelings are the same: Clark expressing his doubt about his identity, Clark's father trying to offer advice to his adopted son, a grown Clark trying to find his role in the world. The images are different in the new trailer but they seem to be from the same scenes we witnessed in trailer #1.

All that said, this is an awesome trailer.

It's selling us a concept that this will be a grown-up Superman movie, one that will have the necessary action that we've come to expect from this genre of movies, but also one that will show us a cinematic Superman that we haven't seen before.

My favorite moment is seeing Superman walking on the snow, his cape billowing out behind him. Man, that looks beautiful.

And very quickly we see the first appearance of Michael Shannon as the new General Zod. He's the short-bearded fellow you see at 1:52.

Man of Steel is slated to open in theaters come June 14, 2013.
