In its second weekend in theaters The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 dropped nearly 70% in box office ticket sales from last week's impressive tally. Still, the $42 million that Breaking Dawn - Part 1 took in this weekend was more than enough to keep it perched at the number one spot.
The Muppets earned $29.5 million from Friday to Sunday, and when that number is added to the two Thanksgiving days (Wednesday and Thursday last week) that brings the picture's total up to $42 million. It's a hit, and that means a second Muppets movie will be in our near future.
Happy Feet Two slips to third place ($13.4m new, $43.7m total), newcomer Arthur Christmas debuts in fourth spot ($12.7m new, $17m total) and Martin Scorsese's Hugo opens in fifth place with $11.3m this weekend (and $15.3m total.)
