Rob Zombie will be back to write and direct the sequel to his Halloween reboot from 2007.
First rumored to be happening by Shock Till You Drop, and now confirmed by Variety, the horror filmmaker has been hired by Dimension Films to make H2, as the sequel will be called. Ambitiously, the studio wants the movie done and in theaters by next October, which means Zombie will have to get moving quickly to make that date. The trade states that filming is scheduled to commence in March 2009 with Malek Akkad and Andy Gould producing.
The sequel's storyline picks up directly after the conclusion of Zombie's first film and will follow the "aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted," reports Variety. The plotline for H2 won't mirror 1981's Halloween 2 which saw Laurie Strode (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) battling Michael Myers in the Haddonfield hospital.
"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie told Variety as to his reasons for picking up the story after he said he wasn't interested in doing a sequel. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called Halloween: If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

Come on Rob...I defended and still defend the remake of the cult classic that he did but after stating that HE WAS NOT GOING TO DO ANOTHER for obvious reasons, then deciding to DO ANOTHER...I am dissapointed with Mr. Zombie. I still think he is a talented director with a vision for horror that has not been around since the 70's and early 80's.
I guess we will see....I would much rather him do something else though....
