Arriving on April 5, 2011 on home video is Tron Legacy. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing the sequel in an impressive four different formats: on standard DVD format, on Blu-ray, on Blu-ray 3D and on video on demand. As well, the studio is re-releasing the original 1982 Tron movie on DVD and Blu-ray.
Here's how Disney breaks down the different Tron Legacy discs:
Standard DVD ($29.99):
- 3 featurettes ("Visualizing TRON", "Installing the Cast", "First Look at TRON: Uprising - the Disney XD Animated Series")
2-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo ($39.99):
- 7 featurettes (the 3 on the regular DVD plus "The Next Day: Flynn Lives Revealed", "Disney Second Screen - TRON: Legacy", "Launching the Legacy", "Disc Roars")
- "Derezzed" music video by Daft Punk
4-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo ($49.99):
- Everything on the 2-disc combo plus 3D and digital copy versions of Tron Legacy
5-disc Ultimate edition ($79.99):
- Everything on the 4-disc combo pack plus the original Tron movie and all of the bonus features on that release
The first Tron movie can be purchased separately on DVD ($29.99) or Blu-ray ($39.99). Included on the DVD is a "Photo Tronology" while the Blu-ray also has an audio commentary track, storyboard, images, digital artwork, publicity stills, PR material and more.
Tron Legacy was released in December 2010 and went on to gross $170 million dollars domestically. Featuring original Tron stars Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, and also starring newcomers Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen, the sequel picks up 28 years after the first Tron and sees the son of Bridges' character searching for his missing father inside the computer world.
