Olivia Wilde thought her Tron character was too sexy
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, November 24, 2010

If Olivia Wilde had her way when she was making Tron Legacy, her video game character Quorra wouldn't have come across as feminine as she does in the movie.
"Very early on I called [director Joseph Kosinski] and said, 'I know who Quorra is. She's Joan of Arc,'" explained the House actress at the recent press junket for the film (and as reported by E! Online.) "After I discovered the Joan of Arc connection I asked if she could be kind of androgynous. I kept saying, 'The Sirens are so sexy! You don't need any more really sexy girls! So…maybe she could just look like a boy!'"
Wilde is talking about four women in white that appear shortly after Tron Legacy's Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) gets transported into The Grid, the digital realm where his lost father (Jeff Bridges) has been for 28 years. The Sirens appear to remove Sam's real world clothing and give him the digital armor and identity disc that he uses to battle programs in the game arena. When Sam eventually meets Quorra, he recognizes her as a tough fighter as well as the protector of his father.
"It would have been easier to just let her be the temptress of the Tron world and slink around like a cat," Wilde explains about Quorra. "I thought it'd be much more interesting if she was sexy despite herself. She's a warrior, so she's very athletic, but she has no desire to seduce."
Wilde is also providing the voice for Quorra in Tron Evolution, a video game which serves as a bridge between the first Tron and its sequel. ""I have had no experience with video games," the actress told the members of the press. "Honestly, the last game I had played was Duck Hunt."

If she doesn't like being sexy, she should probably stop posing braless in see-through tops.
No, really, i kind of get what she means. She'd like to have more characters in movies and TV for girls where they aren't just eye-candy. I'm down with that, but I've got to ask how many leading men are fat slobs? It works both ways, sister.
