Video: J.J. Abrams new post-apocalyptic TV series Revolution

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, May 14, 2012

Debuting this fall on NBC's 2012-12 schedule is Revolution, an hour-long drama with a sizeable sci-fi premise: what if everything that relied on electricity just stopped working all around the world at the same time? That's the starting point in the pilot, but as you'll soon see in the four-minute preview that NBC just released, the show picks up 15 years after darkness fell across the planet.

Lost co-creator and Star Trek director J.J. Abrams is one of the executive producers on the show. The Revolution pilot was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man) and Eric Kripke (creator of Supernatural) wrote the pilot and will exec produce the series.

So what do you think? Does four minutes of Revolution's pilot whet your interest, or do you suspect that it'll be lights out for this new series sooner than its creators suspect?

I remember when we all thought this was going to happen. Glad it only took 12 years to pump out. I like how everyone is using swords and bows, and that one guy with the musket. Wonder why all the electricity going away caused bullet reloaders to stop functioning?

Eh, i'm interested in any post-apoc that examines a green future. Might be a fun show.

SciFi and NBC don't really mix.

I'll watch it, but I'm sure it won't last.

Okay, we've pretty much figured out that ancient civilizations had the technology to make batteries. Heck, we know how to make lemon juice batteries, right?

What is stopping people from building NEW sources of energy, starting with portable generators? Why can't someone rebuild a car engine? Why can't someone use water power (from a dam, maybe?) to generate electricity?

Unless something is actively stopping electricity itself -- which would be really weird. In which case, wouldn't the priority be to locate the source of the dampening field or whatever they want to call it and blow it the hell up?

I just can't wrap my head around the premise.
