The hunt for Osama bin Laden took nearly ten years. Last summer American soldiers entered a compound in Pakistan and finally cornered the terrorist and alleged mastermind behind the attacks on 9/11, killing him in a fierce gunfight and making news headlines around the world.
The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow and her screenwriter Mark Boal were quick to act. Within a month after bin Laden's death the pair had come onboard a movie project about the intelligence gathering and strike team mission that cumulated in the killing of the terrorist. Zero Dark Thirty is the title of their new movie and it's set for release this December 13. Today the first trailer for the movie arrived online via Sony Pictures' YouTube account.
Since it's a teaser, the focus is on the action rather than any cast members. Zero Dark Thirty has got a strong ensemble featuring rising stars Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby), Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life), Edgar Ramirez (Wrath of the Titans), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Kyle Chandler (Super 8), Nash Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, Harold Perrineau and Frank Grillo.
Entertainment Weekly also landed the first five official stills from the film.
