With Red Tails set to come out this coming Friday, IGN met with producer Rick McCallum to interview him about the film. Really, they were hoping for that moment when they could unleash the geek question and ask him what was the latest with the frozen in carbonite live-action Star Wars TV series. You remember that, don't you? That was supposed to be a weekly Star Wars series that showed us what life was like in that galaxy far, far away in-between Episode III and Episode IV.
That was the plan until Lucas realized how much it would cost him to produce a Star Wars TV show with movie level effects. Even with the command of Industrial Light + Magic's army of digital effects wizards to create the FX, Lucas' business first principals came first. The Star Wars TV show had to wait until a more cost effective way of making the series could be achieved.
Since the hiatus of the show, we've learned that, supposedly, 50 episodes had already been written (written by who, I wonder?) and placed in a vault somewhere. Getting back to McCallum and IGN, the question was posed as to whether any new developments had happened to the show. During the producer's answer we at least got some piece of news: a working title and confirmation of the show's setting, Star Wars: Underworld.
So now we know that, should the Star Wars series ever happen, it will be like The Sopranos in space. And hopefully with some Jar Jar getting whacked action.

12 years ago I would have been as giddy as a spinning thing about a live action TV show in the Star Wars universe. I find it really depressing that now I just don't care.
