Ready to see a 3D Katy Perry concert movie?
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, February 1, 2012
A year from now you may have the option to buy a ticket to see Katy Perry singing her perky heart out on a movie theater screen, and it'll be in 3D.
From the same movie studio that brought you Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (and that earned $73 million bucks domestically from it) comes the Katy idea. Paramount is said to be in early talks with Perry's reps to make a fast turnaround concert film featuring the dark-haired crooner in the third dimension.
Also involved in the dealmaking process is Imagine Entertainment, Ron Howard/Brian Grazer's production house.
A Katy Perry 3D movie seems like a natural way to make some quick bucks on her good fortune. The business model is established: look at Justin's flick or the Hannah Montana movie released in 2009 as evidence that the market is out there and hungry for these kind of bubble-gum films.
No director has been mentioned for Katy's movie yet but chances are good that the individual will be a CAA client (since the singer is repped by that agency herself.)
