Playboy magazine has had a long tradition of hyping a movie's upcoming release by presenting a nude pictoral. Typically, Playboy likes to have one of the actresses from the film pose for a collection of semi-nude or fully nude shots, usually themed to go along with the subject matter of the movie that the actress is appearing in. Sometimes Playboy doesn't have the interest of one of the film's actresses to pose risqué, so instead they will assemble women models from the Playboy repetoire to star in the titillating layout.
But this is just what I've heard. I only read Playboy for the articles.
In this month's Playboy there's a suggestive pictoral hyping Disney's Tron Legacy. As Badass Digest points out, and which I agree with, this could be the first time that a Disney movie is using Playboy to hype a new film. Either it means that Disney figures that the boys that enjoyed the first Tron are now enjoying Playboy, or Disney's marketing team for this movie are trying a new approach. Either way that you slice it, what you've got are lightcycles and bare breasts appearing together for the first time.
Hef's magazine has put several of the naught Tron Legacy-themed pictures on their website along with a behind-the-scenes video which shows how the team went about getting the two models ready for their good time on the game grid. There's even some words that go along with the NSFW photos.
Somehow I don't think that these models would know what the first Tron was unless they told them about it.
