Peter Weller is in Star Trek 2
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, December 5, 2011
The man behend the metal mask in 1987's RoboCop has landed an important role in the next Star Trek movie. Of course the actor I'm talking about is Peter Weller, the thin, almost gaunt star of the first two RoboCop films, Leviathan and the greatest sci-fi movie of the 1980s that you've never seen, Buckaroo Banzai. Yes, Peter Weller is in Star Trek...again.
What do I mean by "again"? Well, if you didn't know that Weller made a previous canon appearance in a Star Trek TV series you could be excused. Weller was asked by his buddy Manny Coto, who was showrunning the fourth and final season of Star Trek: Enterprise, to play a villain in the third and second-to-last episodes of Enterprise's final season. Weller played a businessman named Paxton who led a group of humans that wanted aliens off the Earth, and for humans to stop partnering with strangers from outer space.
So who is Weller playing in the 2013 Star Trek movie? We don't know and neither does Variety's reporter who broke the story. This latest news does jibe with the report that the baddie Benicio Del Toro's character players would have an older comrade in arms. I doubt very much that Weller would be reprising his role as Paxton as Enterprise is set 100 years before Kirk's adventures.
