"I like the Sailor Moon 'cause that cartoon has got the "boom" anime babes that make think the wrong things."
This helps perpetuate that stereotype.......thank God!
Back in September I first gave the heads up that Charlie's Angels helmer McG was soothing his post-Terminator Salvation wounds by filming a music video in Tokyo's Akihabara district, where all the high-end electronics stores are and J-nerds outnumber normal people by a ratio of 852 to 1. Spider-Man squeze Kirsten Dunst was photographed by passers-by wearing a cute Sailor Moon-inspired costume. I'll admit, the photos made me feel a little whirly inside.
Now the music video is out and can be watched in its entirety. Called "Akihabara Majokko Princess" and a cover of "Turning Japanese", it's on the demo reel of the video's colorist Stefan Sonnenfeld on the Company 3 website. The video can be watched many, many times.

You want that link, don't you?

What's your favorite movie and pop culture news website? C'mon, say the name. Say it.

Alright. Here you go. The vid's owners are removing it when the film appears on third party video hosting sites like YouTube so go watch it from the source.

I predict that inside of a year the concept of this video will be greenlighted as a $25 million dollar movie starring Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox as two American girls visiting Japan and turning Japanese. Anyone want to predict what the opening weekend gross of that movie will be, take a stab at it below.
Now I forgive Kirsten for starring in Spider-Man 3. Even McG is pardoned for having a three letter name.
UPDATE: Company 3 pulled the video from their site! That leaves me with no other option than to play with danger and embed from YouTube. Will it be pulled from the 'Tube too?

Looks luscious, but anybody else getting bounced off the Stefan landing page when they click the link?
Youtube pulled it, too. NOOOOOOOOO!
Daily Motion still has it up......as of 1pm Central:

Aaaah. That's better!
I don't understand.
What is "Cosplay"?
Why is Kirsten Dunst in it?
Why Japan and the outfit?
Why McG?
Is there some kind of sub-culture geek thing going on here that has totally passed me by?
There's just so much to say about it. Take a look at any photo-album from San Diego Comic Con. You'll see as many Sailor Moon costumes as Spider-Man. It's huge, started in Japan (obviously), and has been spreading for years.
If you Google for the images, make sure you've got the safe-search on if you're at work.....
Sailor Moon? I feel like everyone is speaking a different language to me here.
Dalty, just shut up and enjoy it.

Blue hair makes a lot of problems go away. Guess what I'm doing for the next fifteen minutes.
I think I need a cigarette.
