We're into the start of the 2011 summer movie season and as we move forward the marketing is only to come on stronger and thicker. Case in point: a new clip from X-Men: First Class appeared today on Yahoo's Movies portal page. Better still: it gives me hope that the movie will be better than the weak sauce served up in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Being a kid that read X-Men comic books, this clip appeals to me because it presents a moment where Professor Xavier tries to explain the benefits of mutants to one of the government's alphabet organizations. In the comics Xavier never had this scene and always kept his mutation a secret. In the real world, Xavier probably would have gone to the higher-ups and offered his (and his students') services to make the world a better place.

It's a grounded approach and the scene plays well. Let's hope that the rest of the film lives up to this tease.
