Universal to open its Adjustment Bureau

It's looking like a certainty that Matt Damon will star in The Adjustment Bureau, a new thriller with science fiction elements that was adapted from a Philip K. Dick story. Damon was attached to the project but now Universal Pictures, the studio behind the star's Bourne films, is working out a deal with the production company to help fund the film's budget.

The latest Star Trek trailer warps online

Now that Watchmen is playing on theater screens, Paramount Pictures has released its second full Star Trek trailer. This new trailer centers on the journey that a young James T. Kirk undertakes and his battle against a powerful new villain that wants to erase the future Starfleet Captain's destiny before it can be written. Among the new things glimpsed in the trailer: a planet getting sucked away into oblivion, Spock comforting Uhura and the U.S.S. Kelvin making her final stand.

New Nightmare carves 2010 release date

April 16, 2010 will be the day that the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street arrives in theaters. The news broke first on Shock Till You Drop along with the additional item that makeup effects artist Andrew Clement will create the new look for dream villain Freddy Krueger in the film.

Tyler Perry's How I Made a Lot of Money

Tyler Perry will remain with Lionsgate for the foreseeable future. Today the studio announced that it will release the next two Perry films, I Can Do Bad All by Myself and Why Did I Get Married Too, and it has the distribution rights to at least one more untitled film.

Thomas the Tank Engine will be in his trailer

Hundreds of millions of dollars were made when a live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie came out two years ago. The sequel is in production and aimed for a Christmas release this year. There are also movies being worked on for the Smurfs, Hasbro board games and the Robosapien robot. What comes next? Something that's blue, big and wants you to ride on it.

Fox gets wet for Fathom flick

After being bandied about by fans as their number one choice, the makers of the Fathom movie have heeded the call and cast dark-haired Transformers star Megan Fox as the aquatic comic book heroine. Based on the Top Cow comic book of the same name, Fox will play Aspen Matthews, a marine biologist/swimmer who discovers she is a member of a race of beings that dwell under the waves.

The first two shots of a blonde and brunette wig wearing Angelina Jolie from her new movie Salt have appeared. Originally titled Edwin A. Salt, and with Tom Cruise slated to star as the spy on the run, the script has now been tinkered to make Salt a she instead of a he.

Aphrodite IX? What happened to the first 8?

The Top Cow comic book Aphrodite IX is being developed as a 3-D movie. Working together with the comic book publisher on the new project are Platinum Studios and Threshold Entertainment and a talent search is underway for the movie's heroine, a cyborg assassin with green hair whose costume shows as much skin as Wonder Woman's.
