Fox pulls Wolverine workprint review, issues statement
Sometime Friday evening Roger Friedman's early review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, based on the leaked workprint on the internet, was pulled from the Fox News website. The studio behind the film issued two statements that have run on websites about Friedman's article and the company's view of it.

In the last 48 hours there has been many news stories about the illegally released, high-quality workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine dumped on the internet. 20th Century Fox, the FBI and the MPAA all have launched their own internal investigations into how the file got dumped online, and Fox has even gone so far as to commend the online fansite community for not condoning the release of the Wolverine print.

Filming has just begun on The Rum Diary, an adaptation of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson's first novel. The film stars Johnny Depp as a 1950s journo that leaves a cushy job in New York City to work for a newspaper in San Juan. It's also the first picture that Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihil, is making.

When Latino Review first broke the news that Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley was being considered as the new face of Freddy Krueger nearly two months ago, the story was quickly denied by a Platinum Dunes representative. Now a second site is reporting that not only is Haley under consideration, he's in contract negotiations to play Freddy.

Fame trailer hits the stage
MGM has given Moviefone the exclusive online debut for the trailer of Fame, the new 2009 update that is. Starring Bebe Neuwirth, Kelsey Grammer, Charles S. Dutton, Megan Mullally and a host of rising talent, none of the big stars can be glimpsed in the film's first trailer. Instead the emphasis is on the relaunch of the brand -- hey, MGM marketing decided to go with the old classic logo and that's cool.

In addition to being the programming director of the Old Vic theater, he's got a production company called Trigger Street that's been flexing its creative muscle with a string of diverse pictures like 21, Fanboys and the HBO film Recount.

Disney will release the first two Toy Story films for a special two-week run in theaters this fall. Both the original Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are being re-rendered to screen in Digital Disney 3D, allowing the latest 3-D technology to bring the 1995 and 1999 films into the third dimension for viewers.

Variety reports that Drew Barrymore and Justin Long have a new romantic comedy called Going the Distance set up at New Line Cinema. written by Geoff LaTulippe, it's about a couple that is trying to maintain a long-distance relationship only to discover problem after problem facing their love affair. In the end the couple may lose a lot more than just each other.

Star Trek sequel already on the drawing boards
It hasn't been a secret that the Star Trek creative team has been unofficially tossing around ideas for a sequel to their reboot. Paramount has gambled $150 million dollars upfront on the new film's budget and then is ponying another nine figures to heavily market the picture. And while no one knows how the new Star Trek will perform until May 8th arrives and the movie opens, the studio is taking another gamble and has already commissioned work to begin on a sequel.

Priest may have found its holy man. The makers of the film adaptation of the Tokyo Pop horror comic book are in talks with Paul Bettany to play the main role, that of a futuristic warrior priest who has to slaughter a vampire tribe who has kidnapped his niece. The Road Warrior meets I Am Legend but with a Christian flavor? Hey, why not.
