If the producer of The Expendables series has his way, we will see even more legendary action movie stars participating in the next installment of the film franchise. According to Expendables producer Avi Lerner, they are talking right now to Clint Eastwood about playing a part in Expendables 3. "We've got a character in mind for him," Lerner told the Total Film outlet.

And that's not all the heroes Lerner wants for The Expendables 3. They are also talking to Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes to play characters in the next movie, although Snipes would have to wait until his current prison obligations are finished before participating.

But let's face it: film producers are always talking about their dreams as if they will happen. What are the chances of casting Eastwood, Ford and Snipes in The Expendables 3, or any other well-known action hero?

Well, I'd give Lerner a little bit more hope than zero: he says that they've already secured Nicolas Cage for a part in Expendables 3. The Total Film reporter couldn't make out what the supposed name of Cage's character would be, but it sounded something along the lines of "Hunter Gatherer", which is right in keeping with the Expendables universe of play-on-words character names.

"And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy," finished Lerner. "I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]."

If this can get pulled off, The Expendables 3 will feature more than a dozen-and-a-half of the world's biggest action names in film. Of course, all of this depends on how well The Expendables 2 does in theaters.
