Dollhouse is cancelled

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Fox has officially pulled the plug on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse. The news came down today while the creative team was busy filming the show's eleventh episode of its second season. Fox still plans on completing production on the two remaining episodes, bringing Dollhouse's final run of 13 episodes in its second season and 26 overall.

"I don't have a lot to say," Dollhouse's creator wrote in a short post on Whedonesque this afternoon. "I'm extremely proud of the people I've worked with: my star (Eliza Dushku), my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you'll agree in the coming months. I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again."

Whedon also commented that his fans won't be waiting for very long before knowing what's next up his sleeve. "I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I've read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.

"Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again."

Although there has been no specific date announced yet, if Fox returns Dollhouse to the air after November sweeps the series finale should air in January 2010.

hehe... wow I didnt see this coming. haha.... damn FOX.
no really, I knew when FOX cancelled Terminator and kept Dollhouse, its days were numbered. it was only a matter of time.

no shock... good shows always bite the farm on FOX.

personally, I think Joss should move away from FOX and return to the CW where he had better success with Angel and Buffy.

How many shows is Whedon allowed to have cancelled before he is over?

With the exception of Buffy, has he ever run a show that wasn't cancelled?

No, but that doesn't mean his shows suck.

I like Dollhouse It is interesting, and "Epitaph One" was very, very interesting. However, I think that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was a better show of the two. I'm sad to see it go, regardless. It has been picking up steam and has gotten more interesting as the show expands to reveal more about other Dollhouses and the ultimate plan of the parent company.

Are we (society) done with non-serialized TV shows? I know I am.
