MGM has announced that it will release a monster-sized box set of all 22 James Bond movies in Blu-ray format sometime in 2012. The reveal was made during the Consumer Electronics Show now taking place in Las Vegas, the height of all things in electronic entertainment. The set is meant to honor the 50th anniversary of the Bond movie franchise.
Right now 9 of the 22 007 movies aren't out on Blu-ray. They are You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights, GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Now, here comes the hard part to swallow: if you want to own these missing Bond movies on Blu-ray and already have some or all of the others, you only have the option to buy them all as a set and not individually.
So, how much you ask? The studio is suggesting a retail price of $199.95 for the James Bond box set. A release date hasn't been announced but I expect it to coincide with the theatrical release of the next Bond movie adventure, Skyfall.
