Aja's hired by The Contractor
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Thursday, March 12, 2009
Mirrors director Alexandre Aja is making his next movie and instead of staying within the horror genre, he's branching out to a drama with a small futuristic element to it. The project is called The Contractor and it's being made by French film production company Gaumont.
Variety reports that the story is set at a time when the American government is broke and can't afford to spend billions on fighting wars across the world. Instead of sending thousands of troops over to a foreign land, now the U.S. hires private military contractors to send in special forces soldiers to do their dirty work. The script was written by Ian Jeffers, the guy that just finished writing The Grey and also did a rewrite of Castlevania.
However, Aja's not getting into his Contrator work until after he finishes his fourth horror film, Piranha 3-D. That film comes out March 19, 2010.
