ABC let fans of its two rookie sci-fi series know that they will come back next year with new episodes. The cast and crew likely found out at the same time the viewers of V and FlashForward did too.

At the end of the episodes for both shows this week the network ran a brief promo alerting watchers that new episodes would be broadcast in March 2010. For FlashForward, the air date of the first new episode will be March 4, 2010; for V, it's March 30. Up to this point ABC had not committed itself to making new episodes of V while 12 episodes of FlashForward remain in the pipeline.

The later air date means that the alphabet network doesn't have to worry about competition during the broadcast of NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics. Storywise, the later airing date means that FlashForward's primary arc, in which the flash foward events seen by the world in the future (which takes place on April 29, 2010), will likely be compacted a bit.
