20th Century Fox has made plans to begin filming the sequel to X-Men: First Class in January 2013.
First word of the news broke via THR which got informed via its contacts at talent agencies. One of the potential problems involved actress Jennifer Lawrence and her possible commitment to Lionsgate to film the sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, this coming fall. If Fox wanted to, they could have exercised their option on Lawrence and had her filming the First Class sequel in the fall too, forcing Lionsgate to delay the start of shooting on Catching Fire or recasting the Katniss role. However, with Fox now eyeing an early 2013 start for its First Class sequel movie the problem is moot.

According to Deadline, Matthew Vaughn has signed a contract that will have him direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class. Also coming back is first X-Men movie director Bryan Singer as one of the sequel's producers. [Full story]
