A movie adaptation of the Top Cow comic book Witchblade is now in active development. Arclight Films is the production team behind the film along with Platinum Studios, a firm that has loads of experience with developing comic book properties into movies or television shows. Arclight’s Gary Hamilton and Nigel Odell, along with Platinum’s Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Steve Squillante of Havenwood Media will produce the project. Marc Silvestri, the president of Top Cow, gets an executive producer title. First published in 1995, Witchblade follows a female NYC cop who comes into possession of a supernatural gauntlet that endows her with superpowers that she uses to fight crime. A television series ran for two seasons on TNT from 2001 to 2002 that starred Yancy Butler as Detective Sara Pezzini, the wielder of the Witchblade. The producers hope that filming on the show will start this coming September.
