Agreed buddy. This is a film that ended perfectly.
Yes I understand it might be a prequal but guess what, we know what happens! That is one of the things I never really dug about prequals. I liked it when the movie let our mind figure out what happened....

I just watched the original last night. Please no! Unless it has Kurt Russel with a sweet beard and no CGI "things" it'll be horrible.

yes but Ricco.. John Carpenter's The thing wasnt the original.
agreed, no CGI... i want my horrific Alien to be all real slimey and goey and on set so the actors can have something to work off of... no CGI. No amount of uality CGI still cant match practical effects for blood splatters and makeup effects.. theres no room left in a horror flick for CGI.
and GD, this is a flick that ended perfectly, it would have been ripe for a follow up back in 1982, a quick turn around sequel with the original actors but this...this I fear will be a complete mess on a grand scale.

Wow, didn't know that. The Thing from Another World, right? I'll add it to my Netflix queue! Hopefully its on the instant watch. Yeah, I don't think CGI alone has any room for horror and gore movie effects alone. It can be used to touch up and enhance the real prop effects to some degree, but leave it at that!

Well, at least their creature effects will be first rate. I hope they go with more of the physical effects and less CGI.

Here's my opinion, take it or leave it.
I do not wish to alarm anyone, but this movie is guaranteed to suck ass. It was doomed to fail before it even began, due to Universal Studios' choice of Ronald Moore as the scriptwriter. Moore has a track record for writing bland, uninteresting, and overly complicated material. Even worse, he lacks the ability to faithfully follow or preserve previous story lines, preferring instead to rewrite critical details as he see fit. I'm warning fans of the original film, you will be shocked by his utter lack of respect for Carpenter's version. He would rather play around with a story for his own personal amusement than follow the wishes of the fans. Don't get your hopes up. You will be disappointed. I'm very sorry.

Moore's screenplay was scrapped in late 2009 (Thank god!). I would say the movie now has a better chance of success.
The screenplay was rewritten by Eric Heisserer. Keep your fingers crossed people.
