Taken 2 beats the box office again

For the second weekend in a row Taken 2 is the #1 movie at the box office. With a modest drop of 54% and $22.5 million dollars in new ticket sales, Taken 2's total North American gross now stands at $86.7 million dollars.

Compared with the first Taken, Taken 2 is still $35 million bucks away from besting the first movie's B.O. However, the film's international grosses have been higher than with the first Taken, and as such it' already into the black.

Ben Affleck has his new movie Argo open this weekend, and it did rather well. Argo opened with $20.1m and as such falls neatly into spot #2.

Liam Neeson takes the box office

Taken 2 is a hit. In its opening weekend the action-thriller sequel opened to an estimated $50 million dollars domestic. Compare that with the $24.7m that the first Taken movie grossed in its opening weekend back in 2009, and now the early results of Taken 2 look pretty damn good.
