Screenwriter Dean Georgaris to write a new draft for the proposed Stretch Armstrong movie. The studio is hoping to have the movie out in theaters on April 11, 2014.

Twilight star Taylor Lautner has been cast by Universal to play Stretch Armstrong. "In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power," said Universal's co-chairman Donna Langley. "We couldn't be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch."

Universal has greenlit a live action film based on Hasbro's action figure Stretch Armstrong. The film has a release date -- April 15, 2011 -- and a powerhouse producer helping it get to the finish line in the form of Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind).
