Undercover Brother director Malcolm Lee has been tapped to call the shots on Scary Movie 5. Dimension Films wants Lee to call action on the sequel this summer, and right now he's rewriting the screenplay with David Zucker.

Wow, big surprise: Dimension Films has rescheduled the release of Scary Movie 5 from April 2012 to January 11, 2013. However, it's not like the movie has actually started filming yet, so even then this new release date could be just wishful thinking.

Scary Movie 5 seems to be moving forward. According to a report issued by Bloody Disgusting, writers Stephen Leff, John Aboud and Michael Colton are working on the screenplay while offers to star in the film have gone out to Anthony Anderson (Scary Movie 3 and 4), Regina Hall (Scary Movie 1 - 4) and Kevin Hart (Scary Movie 3 and 4).
Dimension Films hasn't changed its plans to release the sequel on April 20, 2012, so it better get a move on.

The Weinstein Company has announced a slew of release date for upcoming films in their development pipeline. Among the titles mentioned was Scary Movie 5, which is now listed for an April 20, 2012 bow. As far as we know Airplane! and The Naked Gun collaborators David Zucker (as director) and Jim Abrahams(as screenwriter) are still onboard this project though no cast members have been mentioned.
