As the third movie starring Vin Diesel's Riddick anti-hero winds its way through post-development, the star has now spoken optimistically about both Riddick 4 and Riddick 5 movies being more than dreams in the actor's mind.

"I think they are liking what they are seeing," Diesel told his fanbase on Facebook about the reception Universal Pictures has given Riddick 3, a.k.a. Dead Man Stalking. "aha, cause they asked when both Underverse and Furya would be ready to make and release... haha... now that's a ways in the future but it is exciting."

This is the first time Diesel has mentioned that there's any hope for more Riddick movies past the third one. Both he and Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick screenwriter/director David Twohy have written a mythology for the Riddick universe and had story ideas for a trilogy of films beginning with Chronicles. However, after the weak box office that Chronicles of Riddick encountered when it was released in 2004, future Riddick movies seemed to be extremely unlikely to happen.

Now, given what Diesel has told his community, those two post-Chronicles movies could be pulled out of the mothballs if audiences open their wallets and go see Riddick 3.
