John Cusack announced via his Twitter account that he's signed to play Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven. "officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold - my way as i begin this journey into the abyss," wrote the 44-year-old actor.

James McTeigue, the V for Vendetta director, will helm the movie which is scheduled to start filming October 25 in Budapest and Serbia. According to THR the movie is a historical crime drama where the gothic novelist teams up with a detective to track down a serial killer who has kidnapped Poe's fiancée. The killer is committing crimes that mimic the stories Poe wrote.
