Here's the final North American poster for The Muppets. Disney has also supplied us with the final synopsis of the movie's storyline:

"On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, The Muppets hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011."

Disney has pushed up the release of the new Muppets movie from Christmas Day 2011 to Thanksgiving weekend that same year. Specifically, the studio is releasing The Muppets Movie on November 23, 2010.

The latest celebrity additions to the still untitled Muppets movie are Ricky Gervais (The Invention of Lying) and Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau). There's been no word as to what kind of characters the two will be playing or if they will be appearing as themselves in the film. The movie is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Disney has handed us the first officially released still from The Muppets, as the new Muppet movie is now being called. Along with seeing your familiar cast of Muppet characters and Jason Segal in the photo, the Muppet in the foreground holding up an iPhone is a new character named Walter. Walter and Segal's character Gary are roommates in the film as well as huge fans of The Muppets. Together the pair set out in search of their heroes and find Kermit and the gang on the brink of financial ruin.

Disney has given a name to the film, The Muppets, and a release date, December 25, 2011.

Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin has picked the untitled Muppet movie in development at Walt Disney Pictures as his feature film debut. The director had been considering to take the job offered by Universal and Judd Apatow to direct the romantic comedy Bridesmaids but opted to instead travel the road covered with more felt.

The script for Disney's Muppet film is by Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller, with Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing the picture. Details on the movie's storyline are being kept a secret.
